SoTel Systems Expands Telecom Equipment Business with BSL Telephony Services

SoTel Systems supplies business communications equipment, products and services of manufacturers like Aastra, Adtran, Avaya, Cisco (News - Alert) and Nortel. The company is also an authorized distributor and reseller for companies including Epygi, Jabra, Matrix, Polycom, Sangoma, Siemens, Snom and Spracht (News - Alert).

As part of its strategy to strengthen the telecom equipment business, the company acquired certain asset of Connecticut-based BSL Telephony Services, a nationwide telecom sales, service and maintenance company.

BSL provides support services and repair for products from leading companies like Aastra (News - Alert), Avaya and Iwatsu. The company also offers nationwide on-site maintenance supporting nearly all telephony platforms.

The addition of BSL into SoTel enhances and strengthens both businesses, according to James Goebel, SoTel Systems president and CEO. BSL end users will benefit from the services offered by SoTel customers—whether it’s a simple maintenance of a legacy system or installing a new IP-PBX (News - Alert).

"BSL adds manufacturer authorized repair services, a nationwide maintenance network with 2 to 4 hour response times, and a very skilled team,” Goebel said. “The combination will extend SoTel's services offerings.”

"BSL's reputation and personnel are of the highest caliber, and our two cultures should mesh well together,” Goebel continued. “This is a major step toward our vision of a true one-stop shop Value-Added Distribution and Services company."

Following the acquisition, BSL's 30,000 sq. ft. facility and twenty employees will be integrated with SoTel's existing infrastructure. However, SoTel plans to retain the entire BSL staff. The company, meanwhile, has plans to invest and expand its new Connecticut-based workforce to provide greater customer service.

"This integration enables us to support existing clients of both companies more fully and to deliver our services and product offerings in a way that we haven't been able to before," said Scott Latimer, BSL vice president of sales, in a statement.
